Opening Hours
Opening hours are essential information when exploring places like shops, cafes, or restaurants. With the latest update, Guru Maps now shows opening hours for objects directly on the map — if they are available on OpenStreetMap.org.
You can instantly see whether a place is open or closed at the moment. Just tap on the object to expand and view the full opening schedule, all in one place.
However, not all map objects have opening hours added yet. If you know the schedule of a place, you can help improve the map by adding this information yourself.
OpenStreetMap uses a special tag called opening_hours=* to describe when a place is open or closed, using a standard and widely supported format.
For example, opening_hours=Mo–Fr 08:00–17:00 means the place is open from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 17:00.
The format is flexible and also supports more complex schedules, such as different hours on weekends, breaks during the day, or seasonal opening times.
If you want to learn more about how opening hours work in OpenStreetMap, check out the official documentation on the OpenStreetMap Wiki. It explains the standard opening_hours=* format in detail, with simple weekday abbreviations (like Mo, Tu, We), multiple time intervals, public holiday exceptions, seasonal hours, and more.
